I've got a canal boat that slowly I'm trying to do up, whoever did it last time cut so many corners it's unbelievable, so I'm trying to redo it and taking years...see pic

A minor setback was the folding down roof thing blew off in Nov '10 and it's not been right since. It's bodged back together at the moment with Unistrut and sheet ally. Windscreen frame is going a bit rotten and it folds down the wrong way (i.e. into the cab)

Had a sort of brainwave of re-doing it with Series parts. The windscreen doesn't look outrageously different and if using series bracketry I can make it pivot the right way. Also had a thought about using Series/defender door bottoms and hinges in the door bit (the current one is a piece of fibreglass with runners either side...) Might need to lop a bit off the bottom of the doors and widen the gap but should be OK, and I can make it lockable (ish) then !

The current roof is basically knackered, ideally I want to replace it with some sort of canvas, I'll most likely fashion the frame/sticks/ whatever out of 20mm conduit :D

Any interesting developments before I proceed in buying yet more Landy bits to decorate the garden with? :p

Ps. the colour is being changed, I want battleship grey but the other half isn't too keen

You've got Johnny interested.
Offer him a river holiday for a couple of weeks and he'll probably totally rebuild the thing for you, if his other work is anything to go by.

:D

Happy to oblige, I'm working away until September so gonna miss the summer as it is, I'll supply the diesel too! lol

Nice project, I want one..

Happened after I hired one for a day....next day I was on the ****, found it on eBay, 4 grand later....the rest is history.

Found some bits locally, truck cab rear window bit and a windscreen all within 15 miles at reasonable prices on eBay, roof would be too short, will either have to chop up a lwb roof or stick a canvas on the top.

Now the hunt is on to find some series doors for cheap, gonna look for some with knackered bottoms as they'll be too tall anyway, i'm sure it won't be too hard!
