Bluetooth OBD, anyone tried it?

There was a thread on here about someone who tried it, but it didn't go to well and now he is having a few issues....maybe a search for Bluetooth OBD might bring it up....

The P38 isn't truly OBDII standard and uses its own protocol, hence why most OBDII readers don't work on the P38...

Search before you spend...!!

Hi Saint, thanks for that. I already have a Hawkeye and the bluetooth thing is more curiosity that serious consideration to use one although there are some aspects that do appeal.

so..you saying my 1kw mobile hf amp and rig would be a no no then??

Sorry for the thread revival but is the RF really that much of an issue?

Used one on my P38, no issues at all and the live data is very handy. That said it doesn't get used for long periods.

Just read the number of folks with RF receiver problems, plus LR say mobiles are likely to cause problems, then take your chance if you feel it's worth the risk. Personally I would not believe any data retrieved via Bluetooth on a P38:)

it was when i turned my old one off in a mccy ds drive though and the wifi messed with it and it said engine dissabled. not funny after id been showing off with the v8 noise and air supp.

Ok, I shall use with extreme caution! Need to have a poke as I have yet to check if the RF is connected or not to be honest.

I wouldn't knock the live data too quickly though, I've not got too extensive with it yet and admit I'm taking the finding with a healthy dose of salt but it has helped to confirm a few bits and bobs on my P38 and for a tenner I ain't going to complain.

Its shown the ECU temp sensor is doing its job which I was never overly sure of and that one of my O2 sensors is duffed... not sure about the ambient temp reading though.. they were flying from -240 to 120! I consider it more a toy then a serious diagnostic toy to be honest.
