Hello all- new here so bear with me. Just got a 2001 1.8 petrol Freelander with hardtop. 89927 on the clock. On start up she blows a fair amount of blue smoke out the rear. This soon clears. If stopped and started during the day then this does not repeat itself (that day). The next morning it is a repeat performance.

Any ideas? Worn Valve seals allowing oil to soak into pistons and then getting burned off on start up?

Any thoughts and remedies to go with them are greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
David

Blue smoke on engine over run usually indicates worn valve seals as the oil/vapour is drawn into the cylinder on the induction stroke, does this happen as well as blue smoke on start up and how much oil is the engine burning ?
