Hi, I blew my front differential to pieces and don't have time or money to fix it at the moment. If i stick it in difflock and drive it as 2WD through the rear axle would it be okay to drive around for a while?
I know that driving on tarmac with it in difflock can cause axle wind up, so i'm just wondering if it would be okay for a while? until i get around to fixing it.

yay or nay? do i risk it?
all input is appreciated :)

Take off the front propshaft & it won't wind up. I've done this as a "get me home" solution but I don't know how long you could leave it like that. I'd be surprised if it did any damage though (but I could be wrong!).

This is exactly what I'm thinking, in theory it should be fine because it's just a centre differential lock. But I'm no Transmition expert so I'm clueless to any other damage I might be doing.
Just wanted to run it on here first

to be on the safe side i would take the two half shafts and cv's out of the front axle too to make sure there are no moving parts going into the shot diff.. so yeh, that and the prop off - whack in diff lock and youll be fine id think!

Yep that's what I was planning to do :) although i had to tow it home so hopefully haven't Nakered my shafts already :L
Hah cheers for the replays.

I always do take photo's to show the pals because usually when I break something I break it properly (; But I don't know how to upload them?
Should have seen my last wheel bearing, the flange was full of black ash and a few shards of ball bearing. I thought something was a miss when the flange cap melted off, hah!
