Hi,

I have a problem with my land Rover 90, and woundered if any of you would be able to help.

I recently had a turbo fail on my 1988 Defender 90. I had the turbo recon'd and re-fitted. The engine run's and seems ok on idle, however, when you rev the engine the oil cap fires off the top of the engine! Do you have any idea why this may be happening??

Thanks,
Greg.

the breather in it is blocked.Or the pipe that goes off it is connected to the wrong point.

Take the cap off, and check the gauze in it is ok, then check that the pipe goes into the air intake system before the turbo.

I'm assuming it did not do this before the turbo failure?
If not then it must be connected to something that has been done when the turbo was refitted.
Otherwise you may have some serious ring problems. Does the motor burn a lot of oil?

Shift1962,

This did not happen before the turbo was re-fitted, and it does not use a lot of oil. A friend of mine seems to think that it has something to do with cranks pressure, etc.. If that makes any sense?

Thanks for you help.

Greg.
