My P38 air con/heating has lost the plot. Problem started with hot air circulating on passenger side even when set to cold ... now cold air blows from all vents when idling, even when set to hot! Car only heats on the move. Entire cooling system has been flushed, so the matrix should be clear. Are the blend motors shot? Your advice/shared experiences will be greatly appreciated.

sounds like blend motor fault. Have you got the book icon showing on the hevac panel??

Try operating in manual mode, selecting each distibution button in turn, then each side from min to max and back. If it is the blend motors this exercise usually finds it and the book symbol will come up. need to get it on test book then to read fault codes.

Thanks for your reply. Book symbol is showing. If the system continues to blow cold when l test it on manual, does this confirm the problem IS blend motors?

With the book showing, testbook or similar will confirm the fault. There are 3 blend motors, 1 controls distribution, whioch I'm assuming from your reply is working correctly, the other 2 control temps on either side.
It sounds as if 1, if not both of these has gone down.

Apparantly its a right pig of a job, and its recommended to change all 3 if your doing it. The correct method is to remove the dash completely, if you choose this route, change the heater 'O' rings at the same time.

There are short cuts available which you can find by searching through previous threads. In one thread there is a contact for a guy who will come to you, fit 3 new motors for £300, and was highly recommended by the thread writer.

they are now surplus to my requirments & will shortly be going on ebay
but am open to sensible offers here
