Right. When I first got the old red bus i decided to giver a bit of a revamp in the suspension dept as she was showing the signs of 18 years of abuse. Seeing as i was not working at the time I upgraded the front and rear with Britpart hd springs, Regular height which actually raised her over an inch and some pro-comp shocks and Britpart yellow bushes, Hey its all i could afford at the time. Anyway i discovered i have a snapped front coil spring now and as well as that i dont seem to have nearly as much articulation as i had with the standard tired springs. I guess what i want to know is can i upgrade the springs to terrafirma +2 medium springs and keep the 6 month old procomps for another while or would it be necessary to change shocks too??
Has anyone else had an issue with britpart springs or should i chalk it up to experience??

Bloody hell! Howd you brake a spring!?

I got em on mine so have a few others. Mines been perfect, rides harder and theres slightly less articulation because they are hd. On the plus side because they are harder ive noticed reduced body roll

Ermmmm. Well we dont have greenlanes or too many p&p sites over here so forest bashing is the order of the day and sometimes you end up in silly situations. that and over zealous use of the right foot can cause breakages.
Maybe i should save my money and just fit 2 new front springs and chalk it up to experience??

HD springs really are crap unless you have the weight to make them work hard! If you don't have a winch/steering guard at the front and carry a ****-load of stuff in the back then they're mostly unnecessary.

For good articulation, the softer the spring the more you'll get .. HD do NOT improve articulation at all ..

Had them on mine for the past 3 years and they are still fine.

They have had a good few off roads sessions as well.

Pretty sure they have a 2 year guarantee on them, how long ago did you fit them?

changed the 2 front springs and its still approx. 2 inches lower on the drivers side front. Next stop is front shocks. Cant think what else It can be. Bodymounts are solid so just scratching my head.

Front shocks shouldn't change how the front sits surely? Have you changed the complete drivers side for the complete passenger side? Arent the springs rated slightly more on the drivers side as they wear quicker as you have the weight of the driver in the vehicle the most? Mine sits down more on the drivers side and i've put that down to original sagging suspension.

Had those yellow ****e on mine, the drivers side sagged after a couple of months they replaced them with my choice of bearmach. kept same dampers. Did not compensate me for the work to replace them though.Would not touch them again.

Well next sat the whole lot is coming back out and some serious investigation is going on. Cant be doing with this

not with hd springs or all std ,they are just front or rears

you must have been unlucky,i never seen an issue with them ,though i have with the bearmach ones

I've had britpart HD springs on 2 disco's with no probs at all. I like them because they raise the landy by an inch or so and reduce body roll. Good for towing too.

You must have hit something pretty hard to break one.

well im beginning to question what exactly IS up at this stage cos replacement springs made no difference at all

Have you checked the height of the body as a 'datum' start point ?

A previous owner may have done some mods or got a set of second-hand springs/shocks that are mis-matched...

all body/ chassis dimensions are in spec(or as much in spec as a landy can be) Will drop the front shocks and springs again on sat and do a bit more investigation, the shocks are the next port of call. .
