have a 1987 300 tdi discovery remote fob played up the the other day alarm started locking and unlock doors and then remote fob stopped working now i know you can shut the alarm down by using the key code supplied by metal tag but didnt get a metal tag and no owners manuel so no keycode so does any one know how to by pass the imobiliser and alarm system or can i shut it down by bypassing anything thing:welcome2:

The metal tag is just your key number nothing more. You will need a functioning fob to remobilise the engine although the immobiliser only can be overridden by entering a code via the drivers door lock. The Code if you don't have it can be obtained from a main dealer, if they are helpfull they will look up your discos build data.
Info on entering the code is in the owners handbook.

Fobs can go faulty but first is the fobs battery is ok if you can't unlock/lock or remobilise the engine.

ok mis type 97 discovery wife got me one of them new wireless key boards not used to it yet thanks for spyder reference lads the imobiliser key on the dash shows up and the remote fob some times works stuck a new battery in it it locked it then unlocked it then locked itself again with out pushing anything then gave up doing any thing any more suggestion would be helpful not many landrover dealers around here so any help would be grateful

The alarm ECU send a signal to the CL master actuator in the drivers door to unlock if the there's a problem within the actuator then you have bounce back and the door will relock. Just a slight adjustment of the actuator on its fixing screws just a few mm eitherway and a bit of lubrication will should cure this.

Also if the small spring in the drivers lock is broken then the door pin will drop back down 1/2 way and relock, the door easy to check when unlocking with a key but beware this will set the alarm off.
