Changed batteries Changed fob outer case etc read posts on here ?

If power has been lost for whatever reason then the fob can lose synchronisation with the car. This can be for several reasons, low battery in the car or by changing the fob batteries. What you are doing is actually how to resynchronise it - pressing the lock button rapidly four times should do it. Give the battery an overnight trickle charge - on the car if need be - and see if it still does it after sitting all night. If it works then suspect the car battery.

If it works all day once you've resynchronised it and it's going after sitting all night then I'd be suspecting the battery - they can lose voltage in the cold. The other thing to remember is not to fiddle with the remote once the car is locked. Pressing a button out of range of the car can also make it lose synch.

This is exactly what I can find with the old school Minis after the winter lay up with the batteries off I have to resynch them in the Spring. The fob for them looks the same as the Freelander one. Give it a try.

Had the same problem with my hippo recently. If the fob battery is flat, the Freelander will bleep at you when you open the drivers door. Mine wasn’t doing that this time. Been failing to open for several weeks now. Today I took apart the fob and cleaned the battery. Also pulled the pcb out and directly pushed the buttons many times. Put it all back together, making sure not to handle the battery with my fingers, and made sure the battery clip is firmly pushed against the battery. Now I can open the car from 30 yards. Before I had to wave the fob about to get the correct angle to open it. The spare fob worked ok whilst the daily use one needed some tlc. Worth a try.
