They are the things they use on trials cars. Tanks use a similar steering system strange as it may seem.
FAIL
Dot 5 and dot 4 brake fluid do not mix and dot 5 can damage systems not designed for it
I've driven a Challenger 1 - sitting on an ammo box- spam tins tied to my boots - for a bet ... 100yds turn it round ... drive back ... what a hoot
easier than a trailer - cos it's yer feet ... a trailer you use yer hands and brain ... together ... quickly ... bonkers ... couldn't get the hang of it at all
tap head-rub tummy
you didn't read did you. new cars have dot 5. never said they were interchange able or compatible.
Snigger Use Dot 5 brake fluid and should never need to change it
found this google
Some manufacturers still recommend changing brake fluid every two years, some have moved to three- or five-year intervals, and others, as youve noticed, have removed the recommendation for periodic flushing and refilling from their maintenance schedules.

Lots of things use that system. JCBs can stop one rear wheel to skid round in a tight turn. Feet or hands basically same principal. Fiddle brakes in trial cars are used to enhance the steering though as apposed to actual steering as in tracked vehicles. All good stuff.
My step-Dad was a demonstrator driver for JCB back in the 60s ...
6s 6d an hour ... top job
Well, on a whim I flushed my brake fluid this evening. Just about all bleed screws torqued up to about 500 Nm. Never seen black fluid before!
The brakes weren't bad before but what a difference! I reckon the missus will return with a flat nose tomorrow!
Great, that is how it should be ...
