Anyone got a simple sensible way of disabling the alarm, damn things keeps going off when it wants too and I have to leave it unlocked most of the time. I would still like to use the remote to unlock the doors (not that half the locks work anyway - darn lock springs).

Lock the vehicle with the key this will disable the ultrasonic interior sensor they sometimes give problems and if all is ok then thats where the problem lies.
Other than that make sure the door contacts are clean a the connections are good.
There's no easy way to dissconnect the alarm only remove the ecu but that interfaces with the c/locking.

flash like mad (fast blinking) for what seems like 5 seconds or so. The hazard lights also flash.

Discomania did say 'unlock' what you have discribed is 'locking'.
When you unlock with the fob the led should go out showing the alarm is disarmed, the engine is re-mobilised and also the hazard lights will flash once.
You can disconnect the sounder although that will not stop the hazards flashing.

After the alarm has gone off, when I go out there click the unlock button and open the door I get fast blinking and hazards flashing. It's been a few days since it went off, but did it four times today.

I've done a quick check of the door sensors and they seem ok (returning ok etc) with a multimeter showing the correct open/closed status (no sticking). Not sure where to try next, disconnecting the sounder might be a resolution, but I would prefer to fix the problem if I can.

had same problem with mine
pulled the interior sensor off, pulled the wire off, put it back, no problem since

onlt problem is i have no motion sensor, but i can leave th edog in the car an the alarm won't go off
SORTED!

Might find it takes a bit of time to go flat, it seems to charge itself up. I was welding on mine and disconnected the battery but the alarm kept going off, took the wires off the sounder and it still kept going the fokir.

Meant to add, mine ****es water in at the front roof, might find its got into your motion sensor.
