Hi People,

Can someone please tell me where the bleed screws are on the 4.0 v8 and olso the best way to bleed the system? i'm pretty sure i've got a random sticking thermostat so there is one on order, i have heard there are problems bleeding after so thought i'd seek some advice from those that know!!

Many thanks for any help you guys can provide..

Dan

theres no bleed screw!!!

the little pipe on top of rad, i usually pull that off and blow down it to clear any water in there and then stick in in the top of the exp tank as i'm filling it up!!!

and remember its 50/50 coolant mix!! 11 litres in total!!!

ohhh

turn the car upside down and open the bleed screw then!!! you might have to shake it to get it all out!!!

but i you are doing the stat just take the stat outa the pipe that goes into the rad, save ferkin the plastic drain plug up thats on the bottom rdge of the rad in the cantre!!!!

ever heard of pop and run!!!

well pop the pipe off and get ready to run!!!

Hi Chaps,
Thanks for yer help, i've filled the beast back up with water and started her up, the expansion tank bubbled and settled down, came up to temp on the guage and steadied out, got hot air in the cab but the return pipe from the top of the rad to the expansion tank is kicking out steam!! is this normal or is something seriously wrong? i also noticed that the lpg system started cutting out, could this be related?
The Mrs has now started grumbling about selling the "high maint unreliable rubbish" please save me from getting an Audi chaps.

Cheers
Dan

I would have thought that steam coming from the return pipe would indicate an air lock, it should be returning water.

and the gas vap is the confirmation of it, it will not function correctly without water in there, even water/antifreeze mix at -4 or so outside temp is enough for you to be using lpg(not recomended tho) as lpg boils at around -20 i think!

sound like your pipe work is a bit crappydont worry they are all installed by t'ing the into the heater pipes. the best way is to t into the stat by pass and into the return heater/feed heater. so i'm told!
