blank switch

can any one tell me, theres a blank switch on my mk1 down where the window switches are but it has a blue conector block with wires attached that don't seem to do any thing i want to put my spotlight switch there
can i tap of one of the wires for a feed but what its there for?

Do you mean the switches either side of the handbrake?

I'm trying to remember them from my now sold 2002 model.

I think there were 5 rocker switches.

None of them were blank on my version.

Four of them were for the windows Front & Rear, Left & Right.

The 5th one was to disable the rear windows so kids couldn't open them.

no these are in front of the gear leaver under the heater switches they work the windows n/s o/s rear + central locking and then theres the blank one

I can only think that was for the electric sunroof.

Sunroof sounds likely, but have a look in the manual - it'll show all possible equipment fitted and you should be able to tell. You can find the manuals on topix

Heated Rear seats, drivers side and passenger side, above them are, Sunroof, Rear window, and central locking for all doors.

If you dont have a sunroof, thats waht its for..

My 99 XEDi has the following switches:-

Left hand side top left - LH front window
Left hand side top right - central locking switch
Left hand side bottom - Rear door glass in boot

Right side top - RH front window
Right side bottom - Electric sunroof.

On later models with the centre consoles, all window controls were transsferred to switches on the console, and where the window switches used to be (as mentioned above) they either blanked them off, or higher models had heated seat switches.
