Black smoke from 2003 diesel

My 2003 diesel is producing black smoke on acceleration although seems to be running ok. Diagnostics appear to show no fault. any ideas please ?

Is it under just any acceleration or hard acceleration?? When was the last time the air filter was checked/replaced??

Black smoke normally indictes unburnt fuel....most likely a dirty airfilter.

Thanks - Air filter was changed about 6 weeks ago, done 200/300 miles since. Could it be anything to do with fuel injectors, one was changed at that time ?

Sorry, forgot to say it smokes mainly under hard acceleration but doesn't need much to make it do it. My wife drove round a local car park at a fairly steady speed so that I could watch the back.

Seen a few intercooler hoses delaminate on these,same as Td4 Freelanders,they can restrict airflow causing black smoke.

I have similar issue with a 2003 Vogue. It continually smokes until after about 7 miles of drivinig. No idea what is causing this, but it is highly embarassing and a massive cause for concern, any ideas anybody?
