black paint to check for pee gasket

hi ive got water going somewhere and i cant find where.i dont realy want to strip things if i dont need too,ive read posts about the p gasket ive looked at the block to check for water staining but it looks like the water pump has been off before,so the stains could be old.i cant see any leaks when its running and have thought about spray painting black over the rust to see if it shows any new stains after a run.any other ways to find out please tell me as its costing a fortune in antifreeze

water pump doesnt leak on the block near alternator p gasket does

Halfords sell stuff like a dye.

yer i can see the water pump has been off so p gasket could of been changed and water stain could be from an old leak.

For the cost of the gaskets and a couple of hours of your time (if that) why not just change the p gasket and water pump gasket anyway for piece of mind?

ive found it its a heater pipe thats split,just ordered them both off ebay
