Evening all,

Wanting a second/third/fourth opinion on whether I should spray my Defender roof Black or keep it white. Obviously it's a matter of opinion but I have a Blue Defender (No idea on the official colour name, any help on that would be much appreciated too!) with black checker plate and I'm torn between whether the white roof looks daft or not as it's the only white part mixed with a lot of black and blue.

I can't seem to find many on google images in the same blue as mine with black roofs to compare as I think it's a relatively rare colour, only seen two others in 18 months of owning.

Any opinions are welcome, I know from reading other posts that there are some strong advocates of the white roof out there! I'm slightly concerned that a black roof could make it look like a road going "posh" defender, not the look I'm going for!

I'm a new member so I apologise for any newbie mistakes but here's some pictures of "Barrington" in all his glory!

Thanks, Adam

Look at that galvanised chassis. It's positively gleaming. Did you do it yourself? The trees have leaves on so it was obviously taken a little while ago. I don't have any strong opinions about colour schemes. I think the light coloured roofs were originally to stop the interior getting too hot in sunny weather. But it's just a matter of personal preference.

I didn't do it myself no, bought it like that! I was a total newbie to land rovers 18 months ago and a galv chassis was the one thing I looked for, may as well start with a decent base if nothing else!

May just give the white roof a good scrub instead as it's looking a bit tired and green in places now!

Next job should be to fix the leaky sunroof I suppose anyway!

Is the temperature noticeably different having a dark coloured roof rather than a white one?
Mine is white (well off white with a bit of moss green thrown in).

Will give that a go with the vin code, thanks. I saw that one on one of my many searches but it's not quite the same colour I don't think, I think mine is a bit lighter than that one.

Thanks for all the input, think I will keep it white, seems to be a majority vote so far!

If you have aircon fitted you could risk a trial of having it painted black, it does make quite a difference to internal temp , even that piccie on the beach looks hotter !!

Personally would go with the keep it white majority .

Thanks for the 'shopped pic! Looks awful! Haha! I'm keeping it white!
Definitely not air con, unless you count the vents under the windscreen... I'm surprised it makes such a difference having the black roof in the heat, never gave that a thought.
Cheers for the replies, this is a good forum! Should have joined 18 months ago!

I don't mind the black roof on yours!
I'm in the same boat, I'm in two minds to do mine gloss black, I'm more or less decided on black, yay or ney?
