Someone has either added sump oil to the mix or kerro

Someone has either added sump oil to the mix or kerro No chance .. we use the same filling station every time for both 110s and never fill up from cans & i changed the filter on the 300tdi a couple of days ago and everything was normal so if it was bad diesel it would have shown up in that one :( ive never seen that colour come out of a filter before  The only things ive changed in the last month or so are the FPR and thermostat

How long have you had it? it takes a long time to flush the system with fresh derv.
I used two tanks of fresh pre my MOT and derv in the the filter was still black as coal.

Other than that I have no idea:)

Every time I see black diesel, I assume its diesel bug. Get it all the time on boats but unusual on cars because the fuel doesn't sit in the tank for long. You can get biocide treatment for it but I would carry a spare filter because if thats what it is then it will block the filter.

Diesel turns black when it's introduced to air for a prolonged period. Customs can often catch vehicles with a 'dummy' tank by checking the colour of the fuel in the tank. If it's black it's been in there for a while.

Thanks.. one or two things are making sense now!!! prior to us buying the bloody thing it stood for 12 months .. we have had it 8 months now and to be honest it does very little mileage [ she,s a member of the horse box brigade ] i may let her use the 300 for a while so i can try and put more fuel through it by using it for work . will keep you posted.
