dinks ,,,, the problem on here is someone comes asking a question and gets abuse , usually because this site if full of so called experts , who know sfa about the cars they drive,
a lot on here only know what they have read in the posts, without actually doing the job, carrying out any tests or trialing new products, i just look at them as the dumb feckers,

dont get me wrong, the site if also full of valuable posters, who actualy know something useful ,
the ones that spurt the drivel , do so cause they dont actualy know anything or know how to make a valuable contribution , nothing wrong with a bit of banter.

going back to your question , about alternative fuels , i have been running for years on a mix of cheap veg oil and derv the mix ratio depends on the season, i have also found that the td4 engine actually runs smoother with a mix of veg oil/derv, , there are some good threads on the subject,

There are lots of good threads on the subject.....course they will only tell you what you read in the posts without actually doing the job for you

To put the record straight.......I know lots of valuable drivel :D

quite correct mhm,
dinks has a L, and by all acounts it will run quite happily on a lot of fuels,

i just know a td4 will run great on veg oil/derv mix

valuable drivel is always worth a read :-0

they don't hate freelanders, they just hate to admit they like that they're warm, rust free, capable and bloody good either on or slightly off the road.

You might like to consider that a lot of the "freelander haters" as you call them are also "ex freelander owners" and are speaking from experience. Not believing anything that doesn't fit your own perception, means that you might be blinkered to the truth.

For 25 years I ran a 1968 VW camper van I was in a group of enthusiasts to whom it didn't matter what car or van you owned they all had their faults but the support help and general friendliness was unrivalled we even waived as we passed another VW . I was not prepared for the " banter"

Still my original question was is black diesel better than bio diesel ?

Dinks

I've just been doing a bit of research on this black diesel ( Used motor oil ) and it seems as if you need add a load of stuff to it. Look at this:

Black Diesel Filtration

I guess you're really asking to see if anyone else is doing / has tried this, along with other ways. It does seem to be a ton of hassle, unless you have a copious supply of readily available used oil and diesel, along with the other additives that are needed.

For what it's worth, I'd stick to the standard forecourt stuff, adding in your choice of two stroke / redex / millers as you see fit.
