I am in need of your combined wisdom as I need to choose which to use in my Landy , black , bio, svo, or wvo any constructive , useful and informed input would be much appreciated

sadly you haven't told us which landy or indeed engine you have.

As this is the freelander section, I can offer the following advice:

none of the fuels detailed in your post are suitable for either the 1.8 k series or the 2.5 V6 engines.

But, depending on your model, you also might want to look in your Driver's Handbook, which states explicitly that the 2.0 Td4 (BMW) engine is not compatible with Bio. I'm not sufficiently informed as to whether there is a conversion that allows this.

BMW are not the only engines that can't run on bio. All newer VW and Audi engines can't ether. It even state's "No Bio" on the filler cap of my wife's VW Tiguan!!

The TD4 likes good quality normal diesel , I would not use any of your stated fuels in mine !

Sorry guys I didn't give enough info I'm running a rover L series 2 Ltr year 2000. Any advice would be much appreciated as I don't want to #### up my engine

your engine likes nothing but forecourt derv but if you don't believe me feel free to destroy your gaylander in any way you wish :D

I agree wit all the above.........My Td4 manual specifically states not to use bio fuel if I remember correctly, dunno bout yours, not worth the risk. Search for the threads on two stroke oil though.

Thanks barmat I see your another Freelander hater shame I thought this site was for landrover lovers not landrover haters

We are very well aquainted with Land Rovers....

Of course we hate them

Your problem is not so much your choice of 'car' (snigger) but asking a question that has been discussed in minute detail at length several times. Learn to use the search function!

Or you can spit your dummy and rant before storming out the door :baby::Cry: but don't come running back when yer doors fall orf :D

If you're offended you could always #### off and spit your dummy out.....not necessarily in that order

Burn the gaylander while you're at it and remember to shut the door on your way out

That's the stroppy noob response ^

You may get a nicer one if you stop being stroppy and man the #### up

Sorry to contradict you chaps, but I've been running my TD4 2005 on my homemade bio for 2 years now, (around 22,000 miles) with no problems whatsoever. The reason why it states 'no bio-diesel' in the handbook is most likely as a precaution against badly made bio, which will knacker your common rail system, and there is a lot of bad stuff around, even from so called professional manufacturers. there's only a couple of ways to be sure it's good stuff, one is to send a sample of your suppliers bio to be tested, and two, learn to make it properly and test it yourself as I do. Need more info? have a look at page 4 of my web page and email me if you want anymore info.
Andy. :)

that's el f a setup.....nice one. But you obviously have some plumbing/engineering skills to sort that lot out.Out of scope for most.

I think most handbooks for cars state you should only use fuel that's up to a UK / EU standard ( there's probably an ISO or summat ) to cover there own backs if it causes a problem, I know our astra handbook states sulphur figures etc too, and says if you travel abroad make sure the duel you use is up to spec

Not that difficult really. Yes you have to be a bit practical, but there's so much help available on the forum that if you can weild a spanner, and follow instructions a good percentage of you on here could do it. Check out the forum and read the header help BEFORE you start asking questions. (vegetableoildiesel.co.uk - Biodiesel - Powered by XMB 1.9.11)
