bio in cold weather

Just a possible quicke (oo err)

how much does bio thicked in the cold (I mean proper bio, not veg oil)

struggled to get to work this morning, coughing and spluttering, I know me lift pumps broke, but its been fine for a couple of days with a new filter (new pump is on the passenger seat awaiting fitment)

Just wondered, as it was -7 this morning if it had thickened the fuel enough to cause it?
 
When's its really cold drop a little unleaded in the tank or a bit of kerosene . Is it consistently cold over winter where you live? Might be worth putting an inline prewarmer for your fuel. Otherwise your pump will struggle over winter. Especially when it's subzero
 
running mine with petrol in the mix and drives fine was -7 when I set off too

won't quite make it to the top of the rev range - but don't need to really once I'm on the motorway - steady speed all the way :)

not a bad idea that.

Ill see how I do on the way home if it warms up a squeeze, I'll also pop and get a gallon of petrol later on to thin it with.

Maximum you want is 10% of what's in the tank. Even just a litre in will make a difference.

I'm running Veg oil at the min not proper Bio

Veg oil 60 Litres and 12 Litres of Petrol this gives me a weeks driving (400ish miles)
 
so....

60 Oil
12 Petrol
= 72 Total Fuel

Percentage of petrol 16.6%

seems high - but works a treat for me :) Plus it's easy to work out as you take the amount of oil you have and add on 20% so for every 20 litre of Veg oil from Costco add 4 litres of Petrol ;-)

Really?? as sceptical as I am about the moon landings, the thing that bugs me is if they faked the moon landing why did the Russian's never out them ask fake??

They were racing each other to the moon - so surely they were set up and ready to go - so why didn't they? so what if the Yanks go there first!? go anyway!! Prove they either did make it or didn't get there or state why it's not possible??

And the moon is a pretty big place so I’m sure room for 2 nations to explore without ****ing each other off??

There was some question about the radiation levels in the van alan belt I believe ;)

The yanks wouldn't or couldn't tell the Ruskies how they had managed to send astronaughts through it without them dying ;)

Further if you go look at the capsule they returned in there does not appear to be a lead lining of any description........ mighty odd that :)

The astronauts could not have survived the trip because of exposure to radiation from the Van Allen radiation belt and galactic ambient radiation (see radiation poisoning and health threat from cosmic rays). Some conspiracists have suggested that Starfish Prime (high altitude nuclear testing in 1962) was a failed attempt to disrupt the Van Allen belts.

The spacecraft moved through the belts in about four hours, and the astronauts were shielded from the ionizing radiation by the aluminium hulls of the spacecraft. Furthermore, the orbital transfer trajectory from Earth to the Moon through the belts was chosen to lessen radiation exposure. Even Dr. James Van Allen, the discoverer of the Van Allen radiation belts, rebutted the claims that radiation levels were too harmful for the Apollo missions.[77] Plait cited an average dose of less than 1 rem (10 mSv), which is equivalent to the ambient radiation received by living at sea level for three years.[78] The spacecraft passed through the intense inner belt and the low-energy outer belt. The total radiation received on the trip was about the same as allowed for workers in the nuclear energy field for a year.[79]
The radiation is actually evidence that the astronauts went to the Moon. Irene Schneider reports that 33 of the 36 Apollo astronauts involved in the nine Apollo missions to leave Earth orbit have developed early stage cataracts that have been shown to be caused by radiation exposure to cosmic rays.[80] At least 39 former astronauts have developed cataracts; 36 of those were involved in high-radiation missions such as the Apollo missions.[81]

The film was kept in metal containers that stopped radiation from fogging the film's emulsion.[82] Furthermore, film carried by unmanned lunar probes such as the Lunar Orbiter and Luna 3 (which used on-board film development processes) was not fogged.
3. The Moon's surface during the daytime is so hot that camera film would have melted.

There is no atmosphere to efficiently bind lunar surface heat to devices (such as cameras) that are not in direct contact with it. In a vacuum, only radiation remains as a heat transfer mechanism. The physics of radiative heat transfer are thoroughly understood, and the proper use of passive optical coatings and paints was enough to control the temperature of the film within the cameras; Moon lander temperatures were controlled with similar coatings that gave them a gold color. Also, while the Moon's surface does get very hot at lunar noon, every Apollo landing was made shortly after lunar sunrise at the landing site. During the longer stays, the astronauts did notice increased cooling loads on their spacesuits as the sun and surface temperature continued to rise, but the effect was easily countered by the passive and active cooling systems.[83] The film was not in direct sunlight, so it wasn't overheated.[84] Note: The Moon's day is about 29½ Earth days long, meaning that one Moon day (dawn to dusk) lasts nearly fifteen Earth days.
4. The Apollo 16 crew could not have survived a big solar flare firing out when they were on their way to the Moon. They would have been fried.

No large solar flare occurred during the flight of Apollo 16. There were large solar flares in August 1972, after Apollo 16 returned to Earth and before the flight of Apollo 17.[85][86]
 
the outcome of that is...

whack a spot of dino juice in it... itll be sound!

you can add..eer.. additives... to the bio which will reduce its clouding point. But a thorough exhaustive test revealed that petrol was the best of the bunch and the cheapest!

There was some moaners crying about lubrication of the pumps etc... but this was dismissed as bollocks basically.
