Just read the whole post, really impressive but what part of "budget" project were you referring to??
Have you kept a tally of costs so far?

I've only replaced the unsalvageable parts, everything I could save/repair I have, it just happens there were a few surprise issues that I found as I went

I don't want to tally it up until I'm done

i have "refreshed" a stage 1 and i can tell you that you won't want to add it up, it will scare you!!!
good to see another 90 defender brought up to scratch, they are very scarce down under.
all the best and thanks for an informative thread

You would give that Ed China off wheeler dealers a run for his money.

The finished job looks better than I thought it would.

Great inspiration. ;)

a few tips for diesel emissions:

take it for a good drive before hand to warm it up.
take air filter out (the inside bit, leave the box there)
apparently put some of the fuel additive in

I researched all this and these seemed to be the suggestions, as I was sure mine would fail on emissions....it didnt though so never had try any of this!

Did all of that pre mot, hoped it would fix it

Took the injectors out this afternoon two of them seem to be dripping instead of spraying, apparently that's bad
