Just a quick thank you for all the help provided by people on this site and from endless searching through all old posts for answers so I don't have to keep asking you the same questions!

About a month ago my 200Tdi Disco failed its MOT and after being assured it was "just like a big Macarno set" I thought I would have ago myself! And very soon regretted it as I have NO experience at all with mechanics!

So I have now, changed both rear hub seals, wheel bearings, brake pipes, disks, pads and calipers and the gasket on the rear diff. Front swivels, brake pipes, drums pads.

Then I figured as I had done this I could just about mange a service so after looking it up on here, changed oil, fuel, air filters, and all the belts ( that was fun!) With the belts all off I found my oil leak, a few new gaskets later and no more oil on the road! Then changed spill pipes and had the engine steam cleaned as a treat for it!

As I knew I would be having it up on axle stands for a while I poly-bushed the Disco as well! (Just got to fit me Snorkel now!)

Took it for an MOT, which it passed of course, and had a strange pride when the bloke remarked " had a bit of work done on this ain't you?" only to reply " Yeah, I did it."

Thanks again to every one on Landy zone. Couldn't of done it with out you! :D

Good for you well done

Don't know if you remember Nathan5346, I asked for a welders in the Dudley area as when my Disco failed they said it had bad rear chassis corrosion. You kindly recommended me some one but after I had the rear of the Disco in the air and had a look ( and several large thumps of a lump hammer I just happened to have to hand!) I could not find any corrosion on the chassis. And it has just passed with out needing any welding at a different garage.

Strange that ain't it?

well done that man - there's peeps on ere that have asked 10 times the number of questions you have just to work out how to change their air filter
