Hi, I've finally got my engine out (2.25 diesel 3bg) and have just popped the pistons out and here is where the confusion starts. The end caps are numbered but the numbers weren't relevant to the cylinders they came out of. It ran ok before strip down so should I worry about this? Also I'd like to measure the cylinders to be sure which size rings I need, does anybody know the original size?
And finally the same for the big end journals, there are no .10s etc on the shells just the part no 521173 so I'd like to measure to be sure. Any help would be great, cheers

main bearings on block must be in number order , but conrods and caps dnt as long as rod and cap share the same number , check before you get them mixed up as often other rods are fitted over the years so may be more than one no3 etc, if theres just a part number they are std ,std jornal size is 2.312 inches

Best to take a main shell with you when getting new ones. Some very early 3 bearing engines had the location tang on the opposite side. I found this out when rebuilding mine and the rare type cost loads more. Got mine from Craddocks think around £56
