Best way to noise insulate a 90?

Does under bonnet insulation work. What is best type / make if it does ?
Any other areas that are relevantly easy and worth doing?

Any advice great fully recd.

Do you use it for road or off road ?

Floor insulation mats help. As do the volume control on the radio, and ear defenders!

about 60 cans of expandy foam through a 10mm hole in the front door

I would say under bonnet and bulkhead and floor needs to be soundproofed.

Had a look at mine today, don't know what is best to use though, it needs to be some sort of thick stuff though. I once stripped an old BMW and they had used thick rubbery stuff but not dense if you know what I mean, had cavities in it.

Got to be cheap anyway

Be careful what you use, as if its open cell or material then it will soak up water and cause rust.

Ive found the best method is 3mm - 10mm closed cell foam (water tight) covered in speaker carpet 2/3mm rubber.


Most noise comes from the front bulkhead, a pillars and doors.

Closed cell sleeping mats.

Just live with it, it's part of the charm, all the stuff I've tried just traps water underneath.

Fill it full of snow.

This stuff is great, if a little pricey. Also available for R380 gearbox too

Discoverys have a black sound proofing under the carpet, could try some of that stuff from a scrapper?

I think I've read of people using the thick rubber stable matting as insulation

Hi, good idea,will try scrap yard for insulation cast offs! May work, won,t cost much if doesn't, thanks again.
