Basically i want to know everyones opinions and pros and cons!!

Im running and r380 gearbox, and the LT 230 transfer with 1.410 ratio gears..

I have a friend and have heard from other that id benifit from having a 1.222 gear box in my 90, apparently with the taller tires that i run, i think they are 265/85/16 id benefit from the different transfer box,

but they cant give me any other reason apart from "because it is" and "well thats what ive heard"

so which box is best for all round performance, motor way driving, offroad driving etc, im going around europe in the 90 in july and wanna know weather to leave in my 1.410 box or put in the 1.222 box ive got as a spare now!!!!

basically unless you run Big tyres say 34 inch and or do alot of towing then you are normally caning the hind ass off you poor lil engine when trying to keep up on the motorway. Fitting the 1.22:1 ratio tranny box wil raise your overall ratio IN HIGH RANGE ONLY low range remains the same. You can expect fuel economy to be a bit better aswell if you do a few motorway miles and you may find it quieter due to less Rpm and less noise from the engine.

I'll be honest my ratios are messed up I have a 1.222:1 and 37 inch tyres 5th gear is a struggle and towing is er quite silly especially until the TDi is warm but I have gone way too far and am about to change my diffs for a lower ratio to resolve the problem of 37 inch tyres and low range being too fast due to circumference of tyres. My Tdi will pull my gearing so yours should be spot on with a 1.222:1 tranny.
