What's the best advisable long distance speed for a 2001 TD4
As its a freelander,
1. When towing, you are restricted to a maximum speed of 50mph on single carriageway roads, and 60mph on dual carriageways and motorways
Any faster and you risk the Freelander weight in the trailer causing problems.

LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

55-60mph. Same for most motors. Best mpg and some mild progress. Boring as sin though/quite relaxing depending on your view point. Find a nice lorry to tuck up behind and jobs a good un.

I remember reading somewhere that cars are designed for best efficiency to be driven at 56 mph. If the efficiency was any higher then driving around town would be mega inefficient and any lower and driving on a motorway would be mega inefficient. So gear settings, wheel sizes etc are designed to give best economy at 56 mph. In response to ops original question
