I'm in the city (Torry) and mum lives out between Auchnagatt/Maud.
Used to have a Disco II and know a wee bit about them and I know my way around a tool box.
Buy a well kitted out tool box.

My best mod is my urn. Makes 20 cups of hot drinks or pot noodles and means I can add hot water to overheating vehicles without having to wait for em to cool down.

with 6 screws and 2 wires.
It's a leccy eliment 400w 12v urn. Takes 45 mins to boil 20 cups (approx 4 litres). Just needs a positive and an earth lead and off it goes.
