I am contemplating dropping all the oils on my recently purchased Defender 110 300TDi. Now based on our UK climate; the car is only used on road for general commuting and towing; and also I want to use the best quality oils, what would you suggest I use???

Engine Oil (Best Brand & Viscosity)........

Manual Gearbox Oil (Best Brand & Spec)........

Transfer box (Best Brand & Spec)........

Front & Rear Diffs (Best Brand & Spec).......

Swivel Hub Grease/Oil (Best Brand & Spec)......

Your assistance would be appreciated.
Many thanks.;)

Amazing how many people put random un useful comments to get there count up to look superior and still can’t answer a single question

If it’s oils I’d just go with what Landrover recommend as I don’t think you can go far wrong as that’s what I plan on doing as I just got anew landy and want to fully service it:)

Who are you refering to? Think most people on here are fedup answering the same questions all the time.

I had to change the oils in my fender and a quick search found all the info.

That's fair enough but if you are fedup then surely it's your right to simply ignore the post and simply keep the treads topical and informative.

As a result I have used the search facility and have still found it to be a mine field. This is due in part to individuals stating to use all different manner of oils including those that I have found to fall outside of the manufactures specifications. I have since decided to call a friend who has informed me of the correct oils to use.

Landyzone is meant to be a fun and informative forum with means to constructively help those who are less mechanically minded.

Not wanting to completely spoil the thread and to try and keep it informative here are my findings:

Engine Oil - Semi synthetic 10w40

Gearbox Oil - ATF Dexron III

Transfer box & Differential Oil - EP80W90 API GL4

GWtaylor - Many thanks for the constructive feedback. It's a shame not everyone sees things like you do.

Asking you to look around IS constructive. Now, i have a Q for you - which is the "best" semi synth 10w40?

... and you've been here how long, exactly, to say what landyzone is here for?

You're almost there, but it definitely isn't a forum where every halfwit that asks a question that was asked last week, and the week before and the week before in many different guises, will get the answer they want immediately and spoon-fed with it.

Fercrissakes don't you have a manual? How can anyone say which make is best? What's best for one may not be for someone else .. best for me is probably cheapest, available locally, at the correct spec, best for someone minted might be one at the top of the range from a heavily advertised and expensive emporium with money no object ... BEST is not an absolute term until you describe what BEST means to you, and the parameters you measure it with.
