Hi, my gearbox is on the blink in my disco, so the box has got to come off at some point to either repair or replace. May as well replace the clutch at the same time. I'd rather not go for a ****part one because I fitted one of them 6000miles ago and it now slips more often than a fat bird on an ice rink. I've seen a valeo HD one, are these any good, are there better ones and is it worth buying the cast release bearing rather than the plastic one? If so who makes a cast one apart from britpart?

Thanks for the reply storm, is this a HD clutch? I imagine it must be pretty decent to have a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty.

just thout id ad
my disco gets lots of hammer and i hav had fitted

ap clutches
britpat clutches
and valeo clutches

the only one ive had probs with was valeo (center came out)
ap cluch was fine but the bite was very high so if you just toched the pedal it wud slip but stil out lasted til my next gearbox removal
overall suprizingly id say the best of them all was the britpart one so dont be fooled by price
i probly do around 100miles off road a week pay and play and also use it for puling a plant trailer

I'm very interested in this discussion cos right now i'm up to repllace the clutch kit again... just did it 2 weeks ago with an AP kit and it's full of sh*t... it's soft and doesnt declutch enough... it made me change the master and slave cylinders in vane too.

Before that i had a Sachs kit which was brilliant ... lasted about 70.000 km untill it started to slip but i couldnt get hold of a genuine Sachs kit again:mad:. I'm thinking to Britpart HD now but still undecided.

borg and beck ap is best clutch ,obviously like any part can be unlucky and get poor one but less likely with ap fit 130 h/d clutch ,some others are too harsh

britpart gets a lot of stik from people who have just herd people slagin them off and like to join in

s**t stiks if you throw it hard enuf and readin most the threds on here im suprised britpart acualy sells any parts at all

i agree some of ther stuf is cheep crap but every one who i hav asked who has recently fitted a britpart clutch has had no terrable reports to give

well said, especially since most genuine and oe come through them anyhow so most use them without knowing, but wouldnt use pattern bearngs etc whatever wholesaler they came from

Ok..well good luck...at that price you could have got the Borg & Beck/AP... such a vital part as that i'd go for what is generally considered the better quality part.

It'll be an arse if it disintegrates in 6 months!
