Yes I know that this may have been coverred on other mpg threads, but from my TD5 110 it is a Red letter day

402 miles from 65l averaging a whopping 28.14mpg

This is by far the best ever in the last 14,433 miles since I started logging my fuel cunsuption 505 days ago

About 28, doing a steady 55- 60 on the way to aviemore

Worst was about 15 driving to the alps with 6 adults 1 child and a roof full of kit doing about 70 on the motorways.

Its when I push it to 70mph on the motorway that it really starts to go down to < 24mpg.

For the past year I was getting 24.5-25 mpg.

My commute consisted of 1.5miles around town to the A41 then 9 miles at 60mph climbing the Chilterns then 1 mile round Tring to the office.

However now we have moved the office to Mentmore I now have another 7 miles each way in the country lanes of the Vale of Aylesbury doing roughly 30-50 mph with little stopping.

Its quite noticeable that the slower cruising for 30% of the journey has significantly rasied the mpg.

I used to be happy to get 360 per tank, now I am getting around 400, and this is basically from yellow light coming, a full fill to first pump click, to yellow light.

A couple of weeks ago I towed the caravan to Wales (holiday & ALRC Nats) doing 50-70 mph (only for overtaking

). On both journeys the mpg between fills was 24 mpg, while pootling round south wales for the interceding week I was back up to 26.75.

Woohoo, just refilled again today, yellow light had not even com on

408 miles from 64.5l with a squeeze of the pump after first click

28.76mpg

Cripes, will I see 29mpg soon, thats Disco 1 300tdi territory !!

I was getting a steady 33mpg in my 90 TD5.... then switched to constantly using Shell fuel, and mpg went up to 35mpg!

Added Millers snake oil, to clean the fuel system, after possible diesel bug causing fuel pump failure... this bumped mpg up to 37mpg!!

I record my fuel, as I have to zero at every fill, as my gauge doesn't seem to reliable... never goes above 3/4.

Standard 205 road bias tyres... no roofrack... egr bypassed... TD5 alive stage 1 remap... K&N air filter...

I have a Shell next door to a Sainsburys here.

When the fuel is on parity it gets Shell, when there is a difference like today, the ersatz.

Can't say that there was ever any difference between them in my engine.

As for rip off enhanced fueks like V-Power, bugger that for a lark. Only the 80 gets to drink that and thats only because it has no bio ethanol in it to disolve the carb

Some of those figures seem quite low for a diesel. I can get over 20 mpg out of my 3.9 V8 110 at a steady 60mph. Although this does drop to around 10 when driving in town. The other thing is that towing a trailer doesn't seem to have that much of an effect on mpg either.

the first full tank i used gave me 33mpg from my td5 90, i was pleased to say the least:)

never got near that since, usually between 26-29 mpg now:(

That's about what I get on my 200tdi 90, infact I think I get a bit more out of just 45 litres. Is your mpg quite low?

I don't really look at mpg but if I put £20 in I get around 50-60 round town .
Depends how heavy I've been on the right foot

People at work alway say it must be heavy on fuel that"
But I've always had a defender so it's just normal t me
