Afternoon all. I'm coming to an end with the rear chassis repairs on my rebuild and about to get back into bodywork. I'd like to reinstall my rear axle and suspension arms etc prior to installing boot floor. I don't have a press and I drill out old bushes and clean up liner.

I've seen a whole set of poly bushes can be bought for reasonable price however the arb bushes would be surplus. Think it was britpart.

Is my best bet to go oem and likes of paddocks and add each part number in to my bag or buy a poly kit? I'd assume poly will be two parts in places so no press required?
Thank you

I've always used standard bushes on any of our cars.
I do have a press though so fitting new ones isn't an issue. Before the press I used threaded rod, washers & nuts to fit them & most went in fine.

Don't tighten up the bolts until the suspension is in its normal position - usually when the car is back on its wheels - or you are preloading the bushes which could lead to early failure.

Cheers. Yeah I won't torque until bodywork is finished and added and she's sat on wheels. Britpart has been hit n miss for me so wasn't sure if they'll be any good

depends what your after, britpart yellow bush kits are fine ive fitted quite few kits, a lot of people like the idea of future bush changes etc are now simple,i tend to find whatever make of bush kit one bush will fail a few years later, but then a cheap simple replacement,no doubt the factory bushes are best but are difficult to replace at home

What do you think my best bet is James? My plan is a weekend car but not pay and play. More green laning and a fishing/camping bus. I imagine the metalastic will be more difficult for me to get in but I could slip a garage somewhere a tenner to fit all as the arms are all off. Most importantly, I don't want to fit junk!

id fit poly and often do for people that like to keep the car diy as much as possible, whatever kit ensure its a 2 piece

Thanks James. Yes, all diy maintenance. Britpart are 20-30 cheaper than Bearmach or Floflex. I'd lean towards bearmach over Britpart but I have little experience with either compared to others.

I Fit poly. Easy to change without a press & lots of swearing.
Not many original bushes left to go now

While your motor is apart change all them. Also Look at a terafirma greasable Aframe knuckle ;)

Thanks Phil. I was going to go with the high articulation one that has the grease nipple on as @dieseldog69 told me too in my build thread 56 years ago haha.

I'll do the lot. Just going through now trying to match the bolt sets. I'll probably just go Britpart. If they fall to bits I'll replace as I go I guess. Are your Britpart?

Only BP is in the panard rod.
Super flex on axles
Still same bushes in A frame(metalastic) from 25 years ago. Unsure why these have not failed yet.

Look for a compete kit works out cheaper.

Went for full Britpart kit, the high articulation fulcrum brush & bracket and new bolts for everything plus new suspension shock top mounts. I needs to be pretty if I'm spending this much time lol. Where do I hide the this box is the question

You changing your front turrets?
Don't forget stainless rings for them.

This box is getting bigger.

Not thinking about front yet. On that note, I have 5 pro comp shocks. I can do the crude test of for leakage and that they are uniform and resistant going down/up but not sure how else these are tested?

Cleaned up spring retainer cups and ordered new brackets for these. Think next order is 2 x rear calipers and brake line bits. I need to blow through axle breather (think it will need to be done with compressor though or replaced). I think I will need help with brake lines though as not confident and never done own unions and pips.

Oh the list is pretty big but a fraction of what it would've been had I gone for an old jap car again and restored that. However, there isn't a hope in hell that I will be adding up the parts list.
