PM me your delivery details and I'll arrange a pasty delivery......least I can do!

Looking forward to being able to use it off road without it trying to roll over or using the bumpstops as shock absorbers....been reading about the extended profile setting that can't be manually set. But would be very handy to set for maintenance purposes.

Best to learn to walk before I can run tho!

If it beaches itself it rises a little extra to give yourself a chance to get free. Didn't work for me: it span some more and I ended a bit deeper in the mudhole I was in!

So at the expense of being slightly lazy, did everyone decide that the Dunlops were the best? I have noticed that there is an unbranded air bag that has landed on ebay they are slightly cheaper are they the same as the dunlops or any different?

Maybe you should go easy on the loud pedal  I've not had great experiences off roading the P38, compared to my classics, mainly due to the coils and also having nexen rodian tyres fitted which do the job on the road but aren't designed for the soft stuff

From what I've read it's not ideal for driving, the extended profile, as the bags/shocks are at there limit but would be nice to set it for changing auto fluid/filters which is my next job!

Get some ramps or if you do use the extended profile make sure you use axle stands.;):)

I'm on road tyres too. :)

The issue is that viscous coupling. With a diff lock you can "feather the throttle" and (usually) pull yourself out. In order to lock the VC up it has to get warm which means giving it some beans but if it is very soft it just digs in.

Someone was asking after bags. I think it is accepted that the Arnott III are better but probably not worth all the extra expense unless they have an offer or you can afford it. The Dunlops are decent enough from Island at a little over £200 for all 4 (and then you need the pin kit).

Yeah I couldn't figure out what was going on when I got stuck in my P38, not use to electronic traction control always had diff locks before. It was strange as one of the back wheels was locked up and the other was spinning. I must admit not done much serious off roading in it due to the coils but looking forward to some now!
I had driving it down a local boat road the day after I bought it in January last year which I used to take my classic down most days coming back from work.
The lane is on a slight decline and when I turned around I couldn't get back out, ground was very sodden, kept trying to get out but got some very bad smells from the transmission!
Ended up having to back all the way up and just gain as much speed as possible to get up the slight hill whilst being thrown of the headlining!

If one of your back wheels was spinning and the other locked up, your TC ain't working to well. It's supposed to apply brake to spinning wheel to send drive to the other one. Unless you had overheated it and it was having a rest. In which case you should have had a dash message.

Ah right, no dash message but it was making an awful ticking noise from the front wheel on the same said as the locked rear wheel. Sounded like when you get a small branch stuck around your axle when it was spinning up

Yours should have four wheel TC. The noise is one of the front wheels having TC applied. You should not have a freely spinning wheel. TC is applied when one wheel on the same axle spins at a different rate than the other. As measured by the ABS sensors.

Anything like wet grass on a slope can be a real pain. As Wammers says, the ABS cuts in in reverse, applying the brake on and off in quick succession on the spinning wheel to try to push power to the non-slipping wheel. The TC light on the dash should flash on with a clicking noise. maybe that was the "ticking" you heard?

Not the ABS that kicks in. ABS and TC are different things.

Yes but it is a bit like ABS in reverse, if you follow me? As in ABS releases the wheel when it stops turning but TC stops the wheel when it is turning too fast.

Yes but they are different things with different functions so it is not the ABS that kicks in when traction is lost. ;);)
