Hi everyone, I have only been driving my Disco 2 for a month but on occasions it will beep at probably 1 second intervals for around a minute. There appears to be no reason for this as it drives normally and no lights are on the dash. The beeping stops and again nothing changes. It's a 2001 td5 GS model.

I hope I'm not being daft and its a sensor for the seatbelt (may have had a bag on the front passenger seat) or something similar. Please help as I'm baffled!

hi, chech the hi/lo gear lever is engaged properly. this apparently can be the neutral warning beep. if its just slightly out of position it may cause this beeping. mine did it occasionally and randomly for a while. i wiggled the stick and its never done it since

Dont think the D2s have seatbelt warning, my 04 certainly doesnt.
Ive had mine 8 years, it does occasionally give a few beeps for seemingly no reason, in the absence of warning lights or anything wrong I just accept it as one of its little quirks.

Cheers for that guys, think it may well be the hi/low gear lever as that's where i stash my phone when driving and may have knocked it. My Disco doesn't have reversing sensors and yes I accept seat belt sensors was an ambitious guess...lol

Guys

1. Transfer box neutral warning is valid only for NAS and Jap specs, not even a sensor on european ones
2. There is a seatbelt warning cos the pretensioners are monitored by the SRS ECU but it will work for 6 seconds only after the ignition was switched on IF it's set this way cos it can be disabled in BCU settings
3. Make sure all your warning lights are working on ignition self test according to the car's equipments cos it can be a fault warning but the warning light to not work at all(see attachment and watch the warning lights after ignition, concentrate on the green HDC, ORM and ACE if it's equipped... the diff-lock warning has no self test)

I have the feeling that there's a missing warning light cos all the pre-set warnings with ignition on are for limited period, only a system fault warning can keep it 1 minute or untill the fault is not active anymore... e.g. ACE or SLS faults

Very informative thank you. I have checked my warning lights though and yes they all light up and go off again as they should. I'm hoping that it was just the hi/low gear lever, not had any issues driving on the road so fingers crossed no thing major.

It can be anything then but the hi/low lever as long as yours is european modell, let's hope it's not a sign of failing BCU, better check fo water ingress there
