The CPS may be an Hall effect type that switches a open collector/Grounded emitter Trans which simply applies an GND input to the ECM.Might not see anything on a DVM but will on a scope.

A Hall effect needs a supply voltage so is usually a 3 wire device, if 2 wire it modulates the supply voltage line.The CPS may be an Hall effect type that switches a open collector/Grounded emitter Trans which simply applies an GND input to the ECM.Might not see anything on a DVM but will on a scope.

Yep thats what I said
Anyway I think we are barking up the wrong tree as it isnt a Hall effect sensor,but an inductive one where the reluctor ring teeth excite the magnetic flux around the tip of the sensor producing an voltage output from the sensor which varies in frequency and amplitude with engine speed.
