what is it that holds the battery inplace under the seat in the defender. 110 going for MOT and I noticed that there is nothing holding the battery down.

land rover dealer is 1min away from the hows and car not currently got tax or MOT so will be taking it there.

it's a cage with a couple of long j bolts that go through the bottom of the battery box - the holes that the j section goes through normally rusts away very quickly leaving nothing for it to pull against

Here's a photie...

I've not had one fitted in yonks - MOTer never looks - one in the Disco isn't secured either and its visible.

My battery box was rust so i put a large sheet of glass fibre in - knocked those stupid little J-bolt boxes off the outside and poured a cup of resin over it and made the battery box into a fibreglass battery box. Solid

My plan is to get some threaded rod, drill two holes and mount a big square washer on the outside and weld a nut on, same on the inside except just tighten the nut down and that will give you something to mount your crossbar onto. Solid as a rock.

Pictures to follow - one day.
