Hi, at a few shows I have been to in the past I have seen children driving about in scaled down battery series and 90's. I'd love to build one for my two and wondered if anyone had any plans to build them or where to get the plans?

Cheers Bub.

Personally, I'd build a simple ladder chassis out of box section and take the steering from something like a go kart. Don't bother with suspension and stick a 12v motor in powered by a car battery. Then you can charge the battery with a normal charger. Get the pedal from a golf cart then it should have the variable speed you need. Then it's just a case of making a body, which will probably be the hard part.

or do everything you said except use a moped engine and autobox... makes it more fun

i did contemplate fitting a battery bank and motor to the disco.... dissconnect the front prop from the transfer box and connect it to the motor..... then youd have the choice of diesel rwd or electric fwd, might actually fit better the other way round.... then use a wind turbine for charging overnight....occasionally threten the kids with buying milk float for the scool run....time i went and earned a crust

briggs n stratton 4 stroke 5hp cement mixer engine or the honda equivalent the hardest part of making a toylander is bending the alu bonnet to the right shape and the cyrves on the front wings but the rest is just plywood

and as fer looking the part gotta use a set of 8" trailer wheels with the 4 stud hubs wich fit great on austin mini /metro hubs with the stub axles for the steering rack just shorten the arms on a mini steering rack and youve cracked it

me dad has the original toylander plans from the seventies before it was toylander its originaly indespension that did the plans to work with the alco trailer parts they sold kind of universal things really im currently looking for a decent clutch for the briggs or maybee the engine out of a kiddies quad with the disc brake for the axle :D:D:D:D

hi guys did any of you go for the toylander? just wondered how you got on and what problems you encountered??
