Battery light on dash HELP!!!!

on my way to yorkshire dales for a day of green laning, on the motorway i have noticed my battery light come on, the faster i go the brighter it gets, should this be somethin to worry about?and what could this be?

sounds like faulty alternator, but if it has a lucas style plug-they burn out. with engine off undo wire clip and pull plug off and put it on a few times. a plug kit is avaliable

it is on a 200tdi and rev counter has stopped working aswell could this be related?

Yes they are. Get the alt and plug checked. Halfrauds do it free.

finally got to the dales and had a look under the bonnet to find my alternator bracket snapped so......... I have tie wrapped it and the show must go on........I LET NOTHING STAND IN MY WAY.....
