Hi all new member here, owner of a range rover vouge 4.4 v8, my current 90ah 12v battery has given up and I was just wondering if I could replace with a 12v 110Ah and 800cca battery that I have, would this be to much for the range or not please as it says can be used for caravan or motorboat?

A leisure battery is the power source for the 12V appliances and equipment in a caravan or motorhome. These batteries are designed to provide a steady level of power over a prolonged period of time and are used by the lights, T.V, kettle, oven and similar appliances in some outfits.

a leisure battery and a car battery are two very different power sources. ... A car battery is designed to provide a burst of energy to start the engine when required, whereas a leisure battery will release a lower level of energy over a prolonged period of time in order to power appliances.

Yeah I just looked it up I believe your right, and would you say a 90ah is suitable as the one I had in is supposedly new, but I only had the car before the transfailsafe mode started. And after i had battery and alternator tested with multimeter they was running as should I even gave the battery a full charge, but after a while when it was sat for a while and went flat again I attempted to charge it again but my charger refused to charge it and says error basically saying battery is now faulty.

I know there are just so many possible reasons that cause the trans failsafe mode so dont know were to start, also had the idea that it could be the allternator belt slipping as I have an oil leak so I'm thinking its possible for the leak to be dripping on the belt causing to slip and not charging correctly?

The range run like a dream for the first month of me buying it but then out of nowhere I have a oil leak, and now drives okay until temperature gauge reaches half way point then goes into trans failsafe and HDC inactive and I believe it stays in 4th gear.

I would think you could fit bit more powerful than that, but I don’t know what your vehicle will take?

Cca is Cold-Cranking-Amps, this is a measure of how much power it will supply. you don’t want too much.

Ah is Amp- Hours, how long it will take to discharge (how much it can hold).

There are different types for different uses. Even stop/start engines are different to the usual ones.
