Yeah the bloke I use now is a Landy nut with a 101 and as long as you dont take the **** he'll let you tweak things that he's found while he does something else. In my book thats how it should be.

Not too bad i reckon, possibly just damage to the cast surrounding the bearing and timing hole, it sheared a piece off when it tried to turn, i also found a slight imperfection in the cast so that could've been a saving grace which caused the piece to give when put under pressure. Pump turns with pressure at 4 points in a full 360 turn, again normal behaviour, but without stripping it down i have to hope that internally it's oki.
4 bent rods anorl, but i have refrained from hammering them straight for now

.... the smart charger mentioned at the begining arrived this morning. Tried in on my lads motorcycle battery that had been flat since before xmas.... nothing, no lights on charger. Took the other 2 batteries out of the Landrover and tried to charge them..... again, not a light lit up on the charger.I put the big battery back in the beast and managed to jump start it. Left it for 10 minutes then took it off and put it back on the charger. This time it is charging........
So these smart chargers (and maybe others) wont charge up a completely flat battery.
If this one charges up okay I will ditch the smaller one for now and I WILL secure it

Lots of modern chargers won't charge a completely flat battery.....
A flat battery tries to make the charger put out a high current, so it thinks the output is shorted and switches itself off.

After being flat for some time it will not take a full charge in one go, however charge it a couple more times and more capacity can be had.cheers.Glad you posted this
