Freelander 1 Battery change now key fob doesn't work

Hello All.
Sorry, this is probably an often asked question but after changing the main battery on my FL1 the remote keyfob doesn't work. Had this before on my MG ZR but can't remember what the sequence is.
Also engine management light is on. Is that normal after a battery change?
Lastly, radio is asking for the activation code. Is that easily found?
Code reader/re-set scanner on order from e-bay.

Just press the lock or unlock button (I forget which) 5 times in short succession, which re-synchronises the remote with the vehicle.
