After some advice on my Td5s battery. Ive thought it seemed small and on checking i think its a 300tdi spec not a Td5; its 70ah 630cca.
Maybe linked to that is that a few times in last 2 months its stopped cranking over after half a second, then it immobilises itself. It just cranks over. Lock and unlock on the fob and it fires up fine.
Are these 2 things possibly linked? Guess i should change the battery as a matter of course to a bigger one?

I would first try and put some jump leads on with another battery or vehicle to boost the available volts/power, If it doesn't play silly beggars and cranks and starts and has no issues then maybe you have an answer?

Tha's way too weak for td5
Yep that was my thought and i know that a weak battery can cause silly leccy issues.
Im going to replace the battery anyway as i dont want it to fail me when i need it, plus the car only gets driven once or twice a week.
Good idea Dan Clarke but ill just fork out and keep the smaller battery as a spare.
Cheers

Thanks. Ive had to lock it with the key now and when i unlock it the alarm is going off when i open the door. When i changed the battery i had to do a lot of fiddling with the neg connector to get it tight so it was off and on several times. All lights came on, glow plugs etc but the remote keys arent doing anything, both of them.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks both, much appreciated. Siwr y fod i have no eka code in my manual. So its a call to Sinclair LR tomorrow to see if i can get it. Fingers crossed if i get the eka and it works, perhaps my fobs will start working. Im being optimistic : )
Makes me yearn for my old S3. Well, until you go over 35mph

Ok, im back after EKA code entry, car starts, great. But fobs still don’t respond to lock and unlock.
How can i now lock the car without putting the immobiliser back on?
Secondly, how do i go about getting the fobs working again?
Got Hawkeye total but no nanocom
Any help much appreciated

Try this;
With the car unlocked, stand outside it and press the fob lock button several times (at least 4 times). This may lock the car, if it does the fob has re-synchronised. If it works do the other fob as well.

Thanks but sadly nil response just now. Im guessing its a Nanocom job...
Anyone in Swansea with a Nano to help me recode these keys in exchange for beer : )

Might be as simple as RF receiver failure, the fobs dont loose the syncronisation just like that. Untill you restore the fob's operation somehow you can disable the alarm with hawkeye(alarm - ''not fitted") then it will not immobilise when you lock with the key, Can't you run RF tests with hawkeye ?

Hmmm I went into 'Security' and BCU, then 'Transmitters'. It took me through a process and asked to activate the 'plip', so I did. It said 'no plip detected'. Tried both and went out and back in, still the same. I couldn't find a menu to do a specific RF test on the RF receiver in the roof. So I'm not 100% sure what is going on, but it seemed to not be detecting any RF single at all? Anyone with Hawkeye confirm that? If it is the RF receiver, how come changing the battery would have caused that to die?
Ferry, on the point about locking without alarm, do you know where that menu is in Hawkeye? Is it in that same BCU menu and in one of the menus there? It started telling me only trained technicians can use this menu and I got scared of making things worse!
Thanks in advance

Go beyond that ''trained personnel" thing in BCU - programming ... you should find "alarm" and set to "not fitted" or "no alarm" something like that then go through all untill the end when it asks if you confirm the new settings and prompt yes... at least that's how classic hawkeye works
