I guess it's not surprising that the threads on these get pulled out seeing how much the manifolds like to banana, I think I've got 2 timeserted ones on mine (at the far ends).

Yeah exactly. Would bave preferred timeserts but didnt have any!
Surprised given its a CJM manifold.
So far so good no leaks!

Everythings been pretty good for a while!
Except when I fitted new wiper blades, turned them on and got stuck...
Now the wipers are rather weak, so that only means one thing...
Wiper overhaul
one job i rather dread....

Well when it rains it pours...
Had a VERY concerning moment earlier! Started the 110, left it running for a min came back to quite a lot of smoke coming out the bonnet!
Turned off, checked, no fire... it appears the cam cap is leaking into the alternator which is cooking the oil and causing the smoke.
Rather alarming! Cleaned all the oil off and will fix the leak asap!!

New O ring on the Fourby cam cap + a healthy amount of RTV.
Also resealed the alternator oil feed incase it was that.
Also found the header tank almost empty
Need to remember to check that... only downside of a watercooled turbo....

Could have picked a better day than the hottest day of the year but hey ho
Replaced the wiper boxes, what a pig of a job!
Drivers side was actually fine, passenger side SEIZED SOLID couldnt even move it with some 12" stilsons..
Replaced the motor as well for good measure.
Went for Gen LR wiper boxes, G rated motor
Took about 3 hours all in. Typically lost several screws and replaced them with screws i had left over from old Landys
Then went on to tackle the once again leaking exhaust manifold....
Checked it was flat, it was, so hadnt warped again.
Checked every stud for tightness, all good.
Replaced with a new type of gasket from LDS Engineering
Then will not fit with standard studs but do supposedly provide a better seal...
Typically torqued everything up and again, one stud pulled out the head..
So took it all off again
Drilled, tapped for a helicoil
All tight. Better hold this time!!
Then something fun
And a quick bath before Heavingham Concours next weekend

Took a break from the usual Billing show this year and went to Hevingham Concours with Empire.
Beyond incredible place. Shooting, Spitfires (yes original!), Hypercars, Supercars, JCBs and a hillclimb event!
Second fasest diesel up the hill 63mph
beat another well known smokey tuner buy 13mph
The Empire 90 got 71mph
The winner was a Porsche Taycan at 135mph
Many others broke 100mph including an Arash, Aston, GTR, F40 to name a few...
Theres rich, then theres doing donuts in paddock with a limited edition Ferrari or a Hellcat
Also got to sit in a McMurty Spierling! And an Aston Valkyrie, which was absolutely incredible.

So ive got a slight inkling my Darkside intercooler may have split...
Bit slow to come onto boost and in low revs/boost is coal rolling levels of smokey
Its over due a service so that wont be helping either, but shouldnt be this bad!
Going to devise a little boost leak checker. Will cap off the turbo side and make up a lil adapter to plumb an air line into it. Pressurise the IC and see if it holds 40psi...
Wouldnt suprise me if it has split, 34psi running through for a couple years and that
Luckily Empire have just finished their reinforced intercoolers so may have to swap to one of those.
Then repair the Darkside, will be perfectly good for someone sensible

Oh mate , as don’t need that , hopefully it’s just a hose and not the inter cooler again , do u have any warranty left on it plse
Doing a fantastic job there and thks as well for those pics , looked a good day out , I always enjoyed the Bromley pageant and seeing some epic supercars

Could be a hose but seeing as they are allisport i wouldnt suspect them but ill test them anyway.
No warranty over 12 months old now

Nothing too exciting just did a big service.
All oils and filters.
Engine oil, black but no bits or discolouration
Front diff had a little christmas tree and a bit silvery, too be expected from an ATB after 10k.
TX box clean as a whistle
Rear diff, tiny christmas tree but otherwise clean.
Fuel filter, managed to break the bloody water sensor, who needs that anyway
Gearbox, large christmas tree and rather gold shimmery oil best start saving for a new box.... then again not too bad for a stock gearbox on 169k with the last 20k well beyond stock parameters
Brake fluid will need changing next year. 1.5% moisture content.
Air filter was FILTHY needed multiple washes to get clean.
Clutch fluid good.
Pas fluid good.
AC good
Got some slight play in rear passenger wheel bearing but nothing dramatic. Look to be the original bearings so done well! Nipped it up for now. Havnt the time to change it but at least I know I have to.
Props all good. No play, no issues. Same for all the TREs.
Overall fairly good! All the bushes are in good order from what I can tell.
Looks like im all ready for Marquenterre in 2 weeks

Finally after 5 years Ive managed to take a VNT TD5 around Marquenterre and its nothing short of incredible.
Near limitless power and torque on tap when i need it. No huge run ups, no flooring it and snatching 3rd. Just driving up, mostly with ease! Few of the hills I was on the limit of 2nd, yet was still able back off and feed in while maintaining momentum. Genuinely cant believe how well it performed, just incredible.
Overall no real damage or breakdowns for me. However the AC compressor did seize and caused it to almost over heat, luckily caught it in time.
Bolt came out of the diff lock linkage toward the end of the day so difflock became a spanner job
Also noticed my coolant gauge is fluctuating slightly, needle just wobbling around. Could be the sender, wiring or whole system needs a bleed.
I did take a corner a little too tight and used the cage as a turning point
SO glad I have the cage. Misjudging the line was my fault, without the cage that would have been some serious roof damage/windscreen damage. Was also an excellent test of my snorkels took an absolute beating and its still solid.
Had to include this. Just awesome

There is a proper Youtube video coming from Empire in the next few weeks, including some hilarious in car cam footage
