Series 3 ball joint connected to upper relay lever at end of steering tube wrong way up

does it matter that the ball joint is the wrong way up and therefore that the upper relay lever is shaped upwards towards the relay rather than down. here's a diagram of the way it 'should' be. you can see the castellated nut sits on top of the lever, on mine it's underneath.

Your steering tube attaches over the upper relay arm then? And therefore that the top arm has been put on upside down? Ideally the tube would come off the (centred) steering box arm at a right angle and I presume that's when it's underneath.

The danger is that it'll foul something, and even if I couldn't find anything that might snag it I'd still be pretty uneasy, and so would flip the lever. It's only the pinch bolt to take out....
 
I connected my steering tube above the upper relay lever, so that I could access the grease nipple from above..
With the ball joint placed above the relay lever, would normally foul on the battery tray. I needed to place the cast steel relay arm into a forge, got it red hot and placed a slight downward 'set' on it. This now gives sufficient clearance for the ball joint to sit above the upper relay lever and go under the battery tray with the grease nipple sticking up.. Makes greasing 'with standard grease gun' possible..
 
Thing is the steering arm will be tapered same as all other arm's. So the question is is the ball joint the right way for the taper? Same question to Tony. If taper is right for the joint and everything clears can see no issue.
 
The Upper Relay lever can go either way, but with the ball joint above the lever, the tapper needs to face up and this is where battery tray clearance became the issue, plus the angle of the steering tube from steering box drop arm looked horrendous and the steering tube would need lengthening anyway... not possible in the space.
So I needed to heat the Upper Relay lever red hot, set the required angle, large enough for the ball joint position to remain much the same, but now sitting above the lever.. After setting the Angle, I placed it back in the forge and relieved stress after bending.
Now the steering tube/ Steering box drop arm, are back to parallel.
