Put some cheep ebay led bulbs behind the heater controls on my td4 after about 2 months they started flashing like a Christmas tree, ye I no ya get what ya pay for. So decided to get some for for the side lights, and thought pay a bit more for hopefully better ones, £9 from Halfords, NO they lasted 2 weeks before they to started flashing. So is there something specific I should be buying am I buying the wrong thing?

Cheers

Quite normal for cheap LEDs to fail in a vehicle. They are fine at 12 volts. However at 14 Volts the life is short.

I agree with nodge68 I would be tempted to not switch the lights on until engine is running and the electric is running at 12.9 volts on my earlier model freelander (2001) I put leds side lights on the car and had a lot of flashing warning lights so now I do not bother

I made some custom, voltage regulated LEDs for my Discovery side lights. This stops them failing completely while improving light output. LEDs are fine for short term lighting solutions like interior lights but anything that needs to be on for long periods with the engine running, needs to be regulated.
