I had trouble with water running down the spindle and corroding the gearbox internals (which is full of electrical gubbins). Replaced entire gearbox the first time. The second time I stripped it, cleaned it, and reassembled it packed, and I mean PACKED, with grease. A tip from here was to fit a spindle cap (eBay) to stop water from getting in again.

F20 15AMP blue bottom row sixth fuse across from left.

thanks i found it in the owners manual,
it didnt have a fuse in f20, so i put one in and it sparked when i put it in and the back wiper still doesnt work

how can i tell if its the switch or the motor to the wiper thats not working?

It sounds more like a broken or damaged cable is shorting out if it is blowing a fuse instantly. It could be the motor is flooded or faulty but wiring faults are more common.

If you have a multimeter start using it to trace the short, moving cables to try and make it come and go. It's most likely at the door hinge where the cable is constantly flexing. There may also be a connector behind the panels in the boot as there is in FL1's so you can disconnect it and check from there.
If you don't have a meter then you are working blind and would be better taking it to an auto electrician.

so i went to the garage, the mechanic disconnected the back rear wiper motor, put in a new fuse, it didnt spark at all,
soon as he connected the motor back on the fuse sparked,
so its defo the rear wiper motor thats causing the short,
so hopefully tomorrow i'll get the rear wiper motor and get it changed
