Hi
Just had 2 new front tyres fitted. Not sure if connected somehow but headlights are now not working.
With both lights out I think obvious place to check first is the fuse. Had a Google and I'm confused. Is there not a single fuse for the headlights ? I can't find it if there is. Can anybody advise

Apologies. Very stressed as need to have an early start in morning but i have no lights . Its a 2011 I believe. Reg starts PY11
 
I can't help but I doubt there is just 1 fuse for both lights but you never know.
Sure someone will be along soon.
Do all the other lights work, front and rear?
 
Yup. All other lights working fine. Side, fog, full beam ,indicators etc. Hard to believe both bulbs blown at same time and not blown a fuse

It's hard to believe only if you dont know how these vehicles are built, not just these almost all of them have the RH and LH headlights on different fuses as if a fuse blows at least one light to be still on, also the headlights are usually linked to other lights as well so if it was about a fuse not only the headlight would be out out but something else too... in your case the most likely scenario is that both bulbs have failed at the same time which is not very common but happens...if these are ruled out then the troubleshooting begins
 
It's possible that one had blown previously but you failed to notice? both lamps (and I'm assuming tungsten Halogen, not Bi-Xenon) operate at the same time so will have the same amount of 'wear' on the filaments, so one blowing shortly after the other isn't unknown.

A bit more detail on the spec would help point you in the right direction (auto headlights, Bi-Xenon or T/H) is there anything else not working? have you checked the under bonnet fuses?

It's bulbs. Shoved a torch in my mouth and managed to figure out how to remove headlights. Easy once you know how.
Any suggestions on a good bright replacement I can pick up from halfords tomorrow ?
 
The best you can afford - one of the issues with tungsten lamps is they're all made to a price, cheaper they are, the thinner the tungsten filament. Combine that with a vehicle that varies the system (charge) voltage with temperature, then you'll find cheaper lamps fail quicker due to the raised voltage which can be up to 15.5VDC We used to get no end coming in with 'lighting faults' on the rear lights, almost all were due to people fitting 'filling station specials' which have a life expectancy slightly less than a WWI machine-gunner....

That's a good result.
The cheapest and easiest fix you could of asked for.
 
Osram are the OEM suppliers and have a reputation to preserve, Philips are good also but not as universally available in UK. I always used to fit genuine lamps in my L319 & L359's I rarely had to change them - certainly got 2-3 years out of them with Scandi DRL enabled on both of them.

You're going to tell me you work for Osram now, aren't you?
