Sold my 90 a couple of years back but got the itch again so I have bought another Land Rover, this time a 110 County. It was originally a V8, now a 200tdi and does need some work. Outriggers are not good, and currently have an issue with a squeaking/squealing noise on the over run ( no vibration though) and as the car is coming to a stop I can hear a click/ banging noise that slows as the car slows. There also a little bit of shunting as you let the clutch out. I am suspecting UJ joint? Its putting me off driving it until I can fix it as I have heard horror stories or ruined boxes and even prop shafts coming through the floor!
I also have a fuel leak somewhere at front of fuel tank that needs sorting and if its left for a few days it takes a lot of turning over to start. I am perhaps linking this to the fuel leak and wondering if the fuel pump is mechanical? Fuel draining out of the pipes and taking some time to fill up? I also have issues like a window that doesn't wind, window channels in drivers door and goodness knows what else until I can have a proper look. But....despite the rain leaking in, the heavy brakes and clutch and the lack of left elbow room its good to be back!
