Background Info:

1986 90. Just recently had the engine swapped out from a 2.5N/a to a reconditioned 200/300tdi (200tdi bored out to make it a 300). I've got a lt77 gearbox with a lt230 (wrong ration!).

Even with the wrong ration LT230, its still ran ok for a few days, Revs too high but went like a rocket.

Today however the back end is stepping out when taking the power off, feels like the rear wheels are on ice. Drained PAS, no change

Any Ideas guys?

As mentioned, Trailing arm bushes, cud be chassis end or axle end, Or A-frame ball joint, there the only two things keep the axle in line.
Give each tyre a wiggle see if any movement, cud be wheel bearings as well never know with Land Rovers Hahaa

Ive got to ask you bored out a 200 to make it a 300?

that would be interesting since all 4 cylinder bores from 2.25 petrol to 300 tdi are the same 3.562

Thats kind of why I asked as was having a recent conversation about fitting a tdi head to a early 2.0 litre diesel engine.
