Ive a bit of an unusual issue, well I think so.
We’ve just done a chassis swap on my 1987, 90, Discovery 200tdi engine. Ive been doing the wiring, when the rear fog light was switched on, along with headlights all electric was lost! Nothing worked on the 90. This eventually corrected itself and all ok until the fog lights were put on again. We couldn’t work out why all electric was lost but came back eventually. The fault was found with the LH side rear fog light cables bullet connector touching earth as I only have a fog light on the RH side. When trying to pinpoint the problem it seemed to be an issue with the live coming from the starter to the main fusebox in the engine bay. We ran out of time to do anymore tonight.
Does anyone have any idea when a fault on the rear foglight would knock out all supply to the vehicle? Then it came on with what we think was no intervention (it never blew the foglight fuse).
Before the chassis was swapped, I had an issue like this when the main beam was put on, all lights would go out including the dash lights, turning everything off and back on again cured it then but I must admit I didnt realise that probably all the electrics had gone as they are now!

The electrickety just took the easy way back, it did not want to make any lights ect work when there was a direct way home. :)
Lucky the contact to earth can not have been too good or there would have been a fuse blow at best or worse a wire meltdown.
