It's good to find some locals on here!

Anyway, I should have a 32mm ring spanner in my hands Sunday. I'll try get a bar on the end and hopefully it doesn't just slip! If not I'll have to take it to the garage and get them to apply some heat!

So I can drive it, is it full when the oil dribbles out the filler hole?

Even if it rounds off, which it shouldn't with a good spanner or socket, it is easy to chisel it round with a hammer and cold chisel. Trust me, I have done it many times.

Not too bad from what Ive heard. :) Makes the housing a bit more affordable and keeps the emmetts away ;)

Leiston is great. Well, I think so. I can't be doing with these snobby bastards buying up Alldeburgh and southwold, etc making them into Chelsea on sea and pricing out the locals. Where I come from, what you see is what you get :)

Use a 32mm hex socket ... if a previous owner has had it done in a garage they may have wound it up with a rattle gun ... get a large breaker bar to crack the drain nut, then when you do it up only use hand tools ...

I fill using a short length of hosepipe as an extension tube, as it can get messy otherwise ...

id very much doubt gear box drain was done up with a gun unless its extremely small, tight is usually lack of regular use

I know someone that lives by there, and they like it, Aldeburgh and co. are colonies of London arties and mega wealthy. Many places round here are rough as rats, but they have more character than the areas that have become gentrified :(

Aldeburgh is a knob fest **** hole.

Leiston is where real Suffolk people live ;)

if hammering a spanner doesnt work ,chisel and a new plug is best option

My best spanner for those plugs is actually an old snail brand whitworth. Its completely flat, no crank at all, and a near perfect fit on the plug.

Still had to chisel plenty round, landies and tractors, like yu say, when they haven't been out for ten years they can be sticky :)

Heard that about Aldeburgh from my mate that lives up there too! :)

Nice area to live apart from the rich dipsticks, bit drier than the West, lot of good arable ground, I have worked up there years ago, not in Leiston itself though.
